    Here is my wish list:

RGB 444 10-bit support. Final Cut can't properly render RGB 10-bit material.

Real 3:2 pulldown and not 2:2:2:4 like it currently is.

Quicktime sucks. It needs better audio track support (5.1), subtitles etc. I think we're going to see AV Foundation from now on. There needs to be a real Quicktime Pro, that's better than what it currently is.

Compressor is just bad it needs to be redone.

    64-bit, Open CL, blah blah

Project based workflow, instead of capture scratch folders

    Better interface.

I like Motion, just wish the timeline was a little better.

As someone who's attended NAB yearly, (and again this year) Apple has not had a presence there since and currently are NOT on the exhibitor list for this years convention. Will take pics if I'm wrong though.
The Supermeet is a meet-up of Final Cut Pro User Groups from across the country that coincides with NAB. It is not a part of NAB itself.

Not a problem for me. HTC does a great job keeping phones updated.
Precisely. I've been using HTC Android phones concurrently with my iPhones since I have multiple lines. I happen to like both platforms.

What the Android haters here fail to realize, is that they cannot act like adults and say I like this about my iPhone far better than Android.

Nooooo. They've got to preface it with something derogatory like "crappy Android" or worse. It shows their immaturity and inability to act intelligent. They reduce themselves to childish dolts. Idiots at best.

    He went PC.

My friend went PC too , and i am not going there because there is nothing in the world that i hat more than a pc, but i cannot talk like i used to saying how reliable Apples are, they are ****** or have been for me in the alst 2 years:mad:

...so either way, there's only 4 versions of the game out. at over 57 million copies sold
No, there has been 8 Gran Turismo games totaling 56M. If you only count the 4 full release titles, you get 46M.

    http://www.polyphony.co.jp/english/list.html
mario kart is a different type of racing game, geared towards a different audience.
So, I guess you aren't going to count the Need For Speed series either, are you? As a series, it is already over 100M sales.
i'm not saying sales are the only factor, but when you get to the level of Gran Turismo, that's when vendors start making real cars just for the game...
Name for me one real car that was created just for GT. Not a concept car, a REAL car.

Really? So you're telling me that the location saved, of the cell tower 100 miles away, is actually really MY location?

    Wow!

If you believe this is not a problem, the burden of proof is not to show there is at least one instance where the information would not be useful. Instead, the burden of proof is if for you to show there is NO circumstance where this information could be used against someone.

So what's your point? The presence of competition does not harm a competitor? Seems contrary to that whole "competition" word.

And your next point is what? A successful company should allow a competitor to use it's technology/patents to compete with it? All at the same time as just taking it from all the competitors that sue Apple on the other companies' patents, right?

How many anti-Apple suing trolls here are also pro-other company suing Apple trolls in other threads?

So you don't like the way IP law works? Vote for someone who will change the legal structure. Until then, corporations are going to work in the environment your legislators and courts created. Hate the game, not the player.

Where did i say I don't like how IP works buddy? Where in my post does it read 'don't like the way IP law works' ? Wipe your tears and try again... Don't make $#!t up.

the rest of your blurb about stuff in your head that I didn't event write isn't worth responding too...

My anecdote premise was pretty straight forward...
Two dudes who come from some place where they don't read tech feeds as often as the rest of us here... they go to a city shop and get sold phones that look like the ones they heard about...iPhones... the premise is not necessarily from the US... from any country on the planet where average Joes go to a tech shop to buy a smartphone... they look and feel and work in very similar ways which causes confusion.

P.S. The whole point of Apple's patent leverage is that they have... patented everything about their devices... form factor, processes, icons and interface... When you read deep into the context and content of Apple's submission which includes these comparisons and that Samsung copied everything and then applying a slight-of-hand to make it look a little different...

Like i say.. a bunch of Jawa's selling second hand Android's

Just a few hours left, let's hope we see new MacBook Pros tomorrow, I think we'll see the new iMacs with Merom in Paris, because it's a very good announcement for consumers, and get the Pro MB's tomorrow.

I hope that number keeps rising; we need competition to not let Apple rest on it's laurels.

John Gruber once (correctly) stated (or maybe quoted someone else) that Apple's greatest competitor is Apple. Jobs & Co. have never been keen on flipping on the cruise control when they have a successful product (unlike, say, Microsoft).

Do you honestly believe that the XOOM is pushing Apple to do better? Please.

    1. It's Merom. Not Memrom, Menron, Memron or even L. Ron.

    2. It won't be any cooler and it won't have greater battery life, period. Unless Apple has an amazing new design in store.

    3. If you really, really, need a Merom, you should wait until the Santa Rosa platform so you don't complain that you got the inferior Merom.

    That is all.

These kinds of arguments are always lame.

    1. People have lifes, not everyone is as much as a geek as you to know exactly how many transistors are in the next Intel processor. That is a code name by the way, Steve is not going to step up and go "Merom Macbook Pros!" on stage. He will look like a Moron.

    2. So? Who is Apple to tell me how much of an improvement I should expect from something? When's the last time you seen Ford advertise "05 Ford Falcon! Fuel efficiency lags behind competing models by under 10%, same old reliable Ford Falcon with 2 year old design, still at same old price of $19,999"

If there is even so much as 0.001% of improvement you are gonna see Steve step up onto the keynote like a lappy dog and brag it to sound like it is greater than the 2nd coming of Jesus. That's sales 101 for you.

    3. Meroms support 64 bit code. 64 bit code like Leopard (although we don't know for sure), or code like Vista x64 (that is 100% for sure). Sure, you might not mind running things in half arsed modes like some Frankinstein hybrid 32/64 bit system like Tiger is, but some people might actually *gasp* appreciate the ability to judge 64 bit code. Get off your high horse already, if you disagree just keep it to yourself. Not like your arrogant rants contributed anything either.

to be honest - i've been looking at the lenovo offerings and i'm attracted. i have been a diehard apple fan my entire life, but if all it means is i have to use tiger clone (aka vista) but at least have hardware that is current with technology i'll buy.

so yes, apple has a monopoly, but they can't be to jack ass about it because people will start to go other places no matter how good ilife is.

there is no excuse that one of the top 5 notebook venders in the united states on intel architecture is behind this much its competitors.

I really hope Apple comes out with a phone that's an awesome phone, music player, and smart phone... Is that asking too much?

Yes, I agree, it would have to be an iPod as well for all intents and purposes. And please Apple, make it a good quality phone - don't make it like those RAZRs which look cool but are crappy otherwise. I don't think I have read more negative reviews on a cell phone than I have for the RAZR.

You could say the same thing about Apple though. The Apple fad will go away and the extremely closed ecosystem which seems to not be really developing much in terms of UI or having an actual roadmap could end iOS.

I don't understand why people can't just see the pros and cons of both and accept both are great platforms. Its always a WAR with Apple fans. Apple against EVERYONE!

    Really?

I always perceived it as everyone against Apple. Just read the comments on any tech site anytime Apple launches a new product. "This has fail written all over it".... "only iSheep will buy this crap"...... blah, blah, blah.

The amount of people who never bought an Apple product, but will still log-on to blast away at anything Apple is really quite amusing. ;)

I'm stuck in a contract for another year, so I'll be watching to see how this pans out. Hopefully, I'll be able to jump on a Rev B without reservations.

Given Apple's patent on the click-wheel interface, what do you think the likelihood of a virtual rotary phone interface? There are plenty of people who are now adults who've never 'dialled' a phone. It would be really slick if Apple could find a way for all of us old-farts to re-activiate our kinaesthetic memories and dial up and old friend using the click wheel on our new iPhones.

    Cheers

Although the only thing that will ultimately matter is what Apple releases on Tuesday, if you want to get an inkling as to why FCP development has been at loggerheads since do yourself a favour and read a couple articles from Philip Hodgett's blog on FCP, QTkit, Cocoa, and it's unfortunate collision with OSX's 64 bit platform development.

    http://www.philiphodgetts.com/category/technology/apple-pro-apps/

Which has been in development longer FCP overhaul or iPhone?
AV foundation was overkill for iOS from the outset so that would suggest is was always intended for FCP.

His articles have a funny assumption that the OS team has the most secrecy.
Surely the more valuable projects Like FCP have greater access to information and the greater control over when the broader company gets to see their work. Sure they would have been trumped to iPhone team who would seem to have free reign. The CoreOS team would seem like they are the most open their job is to turn the private API's developed by the product teams into to a public developer platform. A lot of their work is even open source.

    Funny comment from Engadget:

Q: Why is my iphone tracking me?
A: It's not. It's tracking networks and cell towers near wherever you go.

Q: What is the difference between tracking me, and tracking the towers wherever I happen to go? Isn't that the same thing?
    A: No. Because it's crowd-sourced. Total crowd size = 1.

Q: Umm. Ok? Soo. Why have you been keeping logs for the past year?
    A: That was a bug.

Q: Then why was it unencrypted?
    A: That was a bug.

Q: Right. Then why when I opted out did it ignore my choice?
    A: That was a bug.

I think is quite conceivable that keeping those logs forever, not encrypting them, maintaining them despite an opt out, and not removing the timestamps was done in the spirit of: "Let's keep the data, maybe they will be useful at some point, and why bother do encrypt them, that is just some extra lines of code to write."
And it is this spirit which is somehow worrying.

Lol if apple was a religion it would have more extremists than Islam, Judaism, and Christianity combined!

Pssstt... I think it already is a religion to many.

When someone speaks about "smartphone marketshare" he usually means world wide and not only for Botswana. But nice try.

You mean when someone says Marketshare they mean that other place outside of the center of the universe America?

Is Leopard going to take advantage of the 64 bit Dual G5?

    Yes, absolutely:

    Enhanced 64-bit Support
Leopard delivers 64-bit power in one, universal OS. Now Cocoa and Carbon application frameworks, as well as graphics, scripting, and the rest of the system are all 64-bit. Leopard delivers 64-bit power to both Intel- and PowerPC-based Macs, so you don’t have to install separate applications for different machines. There’s only one version of Mac OS X, so you don’t need to maintain separate operating systems for different uses.

    Bridge the Generation Gap
Now that the entire operating system is 64-bit, you can take full advantage of the Xeon chip in Mac Pro and Xserve. You get more processing power at up to 3.0GHz, without limiting your programs to command-line applications, servers, and computation engines. From G3 to Xeon, from MacBook to Xserve, there is just one Leopard.

still, you cannot say the iphone is the best smartphone on the market, just as someone else can't say the atrix is the best. Different strokes for different folks!

Sure, it may be more expensive than a custom-built Intel machine, but it will run OS X like a charm, and that's ultimately the most important factor in my computer purchase. But access to Windows games and Mac OS X, that's a dream come true for this mac fanatic. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that virtualization makes big enough strides that I never have to leave OS X to play Windows-based games.

my thoughts exactly... MacBook Pro in two weeks :D

wish i had that Core 2 goin in it...

Here's Link To NTI Dragon Burn for Mac OS X (http://www.ntius.com/default.asp?p=dragonburn/dburn4_main).

Dragon Burn enables Mac desktop and PowerBook notebook computer users to quickly and easily begin producing audio, data, mixed-mode CDs, and DVDs. Dragon Burn's Multi-Burning engine allows users to simultaneously write multiple CDs or DVDs. It also fully supports the newest internal and external drives, including 16x DVD-R drives. Thanks ksz. I checked it out and the multi burning capability is great. But Dragon Burn will not let you write Images which I find incredibly lame. I use Toast 7 a lot and I use it most of the time to write images not to physically burn discs. I would love to be able to write multiple Images with something. But, alas, Dragon Burn is not it. :(http://www.creativemac.com/2001/04_apr/news/toast53.htm

Still, from what I've read you need multiple instances of Toast open. I'll try Disk Utility for burning two images at once when I get a new image that I need to burn.Wow. I had no idea I could have multiple copies of Toast 7 open. Just made a dupe and it works! Thanks Eldorian. I can really push my Quad to further limits now that I know this. Mucho Gracias.
